Loose handling / steering?

I’m guessing this is normal since I’ve test drove a few 2016 explorers and they all seem to have very loose steering with little to no resistance when steering. What’s up with that? Electronic steering?

Side note, just got a Ford Focus as a loaner...wow handles extremely well for its price point, shame they discontinued it.

Anyway, the steering feel on mine are a bit "overboosted" when not moving or going slow and then it firms right up once you get up to speed. No looseness whatsoever.

Yes it's proportional steering, provide much less assist based on vehicle speed.
