Lost lug nut key. How do I get it off?

I just recently purchased a 99 sport and I've got a flat tire. The lug nut key to the security lug is missing. How can I get it off without having it towed in and spending lots of money just for a flat? Need advice please!!!

Ahh you can get a 12 point socket and hammer it on to the wheel lock and remove the wheel lock or get one of those wheel lock remover sockets and remove it..

Sears and other places sell special sockets to remove stripped bolts. Did you look everywhere for the key? Maybe they left one in trunck area bouncing around the jack or near the rear washer reservoir. You can also find a friend with a AAA card. They can tow you for free (check mileage as std card is only 5 miles or so) and it doens't even have to be their car... Once you get home you can work on it at a normal pace...

Just use a 12 point socket and hammer it on.. It works, I tried it only Spas' 98 after she lost the wheel lock key.

Hey Blee1099, so I can just take a 12mm socket and hammer it inside that security lug? Thank you so much.

just get a 12 point socket the same size as the wheel lock.. I think its a 18mm or something. Just hammer it onto the wheel lock and pull it off, then again you'll damage the 12 point socket so you might as well take it somewhere like a tire shop and have them remove all the wheel locks and replace them with another set just in case you get another flat.

Hey, could be worse, I was finishing up some project on my truck and torquing down the lugnuts only to have the locking on start to spin on me. It had bottomed out on the stud and twisted the stud loose, we ended up spending the rest of the afternoon grinding the top of it off. . .

Replacing the wheel studs is not fun, took me about 3 trips to Autozone before they finally got me the correct part. Made them pull out a micrometer and check everyone in their box to find one to match mine.

I swear they have those stripped bolt remover sets on sale all the time at Sears. Would be good to have in the toolbox, and won't have to ruin a socket in the process.
