Just got my lower balls joints replaced on my 98 AWD 5.0 Ex and saw this today, other side is clean. Anyone have any ideas what it may be? Thanks for any ideas and help.

That's not the lower BJ. If it was leaking it would be from the boot which is under the control arm. It also wouldn't be on the halfshaft like that. Looks like an aftermarket BJ too with that zerk fitting.
I'd bet halfshaft but I'm not sure. Maybe clean it all off, drive a little and see where the grease is coming from?
definitely need a bigger picture, but it looks like there's a rip in the CV boot.
if it were the BJ, it would be leaking from either the boot, or where the zerk fitting goes. Either one of these would NOT cause grease to get all over the CV boot.
and seeing how it's all on the FRONT of the LCA, that would point it to being grease flinging out of the CV boot and going forward, getting it on the front and top of the LCA.
Thanks guys, I'm gonna clean it up run it around the block a bit and see what happens next. Would rather replace the boot than the half shaft or bearing anyday.
Ditto. CV joint grease. At the very least you need a boot and some fresh grease, but if it was me doing it, I'd just replace the halfshaft. Not worth all that effort to replace the boot just to have the joint fail shortly thereafter and need to do the work all over again.
