Lower Ball Joint Replace

I have search the the forums to find a thread on replacing the lower front ball joint on the 3rd gen explorer but could only find one by MountaineerGreen on the 2nd gen. They appear to be similar save for the difference from one being bars and the mine being coils. Any he:exp:lp would be appreciated.

Both lower Joints are now replaced. I ended up having to use a little heat to persuade the separation from the steering knuckle, but it all worked out .

Did you have to re[lace the whole control arm?

Good question...I am wondering the same thing...and the control arms are very expensive so I was hoping that it was not the case....

Has anyone tried the lower balljoint replacement or does it involve replacing the lower control arm??

it can be replaced without swapping out the arm. I'll look and see if I can find the thread and I'll post it up here when I do.
