04 sport trac
I am new here and can't seem to have much luck searching the previous threads to find what I am needing here. Can someone please point me in the right direction to find the instructions for replacing the lower control arms, both sides, of my 04 sport trac 2wd. All I seem to be finding are threads talking about the uppers or ball joints. I have the torsion bar front end also.

Go figure, I can turn a wrench but cant seem to find squat on the internet. ugh.. Thanks for the thelp in advance.

Are your lower control arms damaged?

I don't personally know how to remove them, but I can't imagine replacing them if they're not damaged. Check around on the prerunner sites if you don't find what you need here. They often remove the lower control arms in favor of ones more suited to their needs. desertrangerz I think is one site that might have what you need.

150,000 miles and ball joints and bushings are worn.

Check out the stickies in the "stock 95-01 Eplorer" section.

Just replace the bushings

That requires removal of the arms--:)

For the price of a new arm with new bushings and ball joint already in place-it is a no brainer. Motorcraft arms are about 100.00 complete.

To remove the lower arms

Assuming front end is raised and secured. Mark torsion adjuster bolts for re assembly into same position and depth.

Remove tension from torsion bar adjuster.

Remove torsion key

Remove torsion bar
Remove shock and sway bar links from lower arm.

Knock ball joint loose from lower arm

Remove 2 control arm mounting bolts.

That should about cover it.
