If I throw this system on my stock 5.0, will it hurt it's power?

I'm selling my 4.0 explorer tomorrow and my 5.0 has a rusty muffler that needs replacing, i was originally just going to Y pipe it and throw a flowmaster 40 on. Then i found this kit. So I'm using the money that I get from selling the 4.0 to buy an exhaust for the 5.0.

Any and all opinions welcome and appreciated.

I had one on my last Explorer, didn't notice one way or another but it did sound really good.

Some advice I have to offer, with the MAC Catback it will either fit easily like it should or can be a real b*tch and not line up at all. Also if you order through MAC Performance they take forever to get anything done. Call Explorer Express first and see if they have it in stock (http://www.explorerexpress.com/exhaust-catback-aluminized-9698-explorer50-before-12898-p-853.html) they will ship it right away if they do and you wont have to wait for MAC to make it then send it. I personally have a Flowmaster Cat Back and i love it fit on really well and is less expensive than MAC.

Did you make this flowmaster cat back with parts on your own? Or did they sell it in a kit?

So far the only cat back I can find for the explorer is from mac, and I think I saw one from Gibson.

Mine was a kit. I just looked and Flowmaster only made it for Explorers 99 to 01. And they do not have another kit for the 96- 98 model. And assuming you don't know yes there is a difference in the exhaust set up for those years. You could buy it and then adjust it to your style exhaust. If i remember correctly whats different is just the way they connect to the cats.

yeah my '97 has a gasket...the 98-01 doesn't.

I called a custom exhaust shop today to see if they could order this cat back, he called me back 20 minutes later saying my air ride might cause a problem putting this system on.

Anyone have any trouble with air ride and cat back kits?
