Ok, here's the deal. After scouring for hours in hundreds of threads i have found no answer to my paticualar dilema. After about 8 mo. of owning my 00 mounty, i finally got the will power to tear the cargo space up to fix the sub. My problem is that the wires from the HU arent the same color as the wires to the external sub amp. It is recieving power (confirmed with a test light), but no sound other than a really low indistinguishable rumple sound. I have confirmed the sub speaker itself still works. I am confused as to the model number on the HU, F87F-18C868-DD. I found no explaination on here about the suffix dd, which based on the threads AD is the MACH HU. The HU does have the RDS feature on the clock button, I do have rear seat controls and I obviously have an 8" sub in the rear, which confirmes the MACH system. I also have the 6 disk console changer. Any suggestions or clarifications will save me from doing all this work in vain.
Thanks!!

The F87F-18C868-DD radio is NOT a "Mach" head unit - it is a Premium Sound version that does not have a subwoofer output. Head units with suffix AA, AB, AC, AD...etc. would be "Mach", head units with DA, DB, DC, DD....etc. are NOT (all based upon a base of -18C868- and with a prefix of F87F).

You need a different head unit if you want the subwoofer to work.

Jeff

Thanks Jeff, That Solves Alot Of Problems......

The Mach radio and Premium radio are both Pioneer head units. Those names are labels from Ford, not descriptions. They both have an "RDS" button instead of a "Clock" button. The Mach radio has a subwoofer output, all those trucks had subwoofers. The Premium radio(not best) has no subwoofer output, and those trucks had no subwoofer.

The wattage output is slightly different for those, 15-20w/ch. The Mach subwoofer output is designed for the factory Ford amplifier, pushes 80 watts. That can be used with aftermarket amps, but it requires some kind of special transformer to eliminate a signal within the factory signal.

The Mach unit is as good as any aftermarket HU for radio reception, and it supports steering wheel controls, a CD changer, and it has large buttons. Those units all have a display power board deficiency, when fixed correctly the Mach is the best quality factory HU to be had.

I'm soon going to have mine fixed, and have RCA outputs included, for three quality amplifiers. Regards,

I have this problem too and my power antenna doesn't work

I have this problem too and my power antenna doesn't work

Mine was not working, someone replaced the head unit with a base model head unit that did not have Power antenna or sub output...Now I have the Mach head unit and everything works fine...

Have fun finding one there a lot of money and rare...
