Starting this spring i'm going to begin doing mods to the ole Sexy Exy. I'm trying to come up with a list of things that to do that are worth the money but dont nessicarly require a whole ****load of mechanical knowlege. I figured i'd start with a KKM, new coil springs, Blisten Heavy Duty Shocks, and add a leaf for the rear (springs and left to rid myself of some sag).
I was also thinking about:
New Headliner
New Carpet (black instead of grey)
Two new front seats (prolly aftermarket, leather of course)
Rear 40/60 Bench seat out of a newer 4 door ex, gonna try to find a black leather one, if not, then i'll stick with grey interior stuffs.
Paint the grill (kinda wanna go black chrome, but not sure where to get black chrome paint)
Clear Corners/Diamond cut headlights and new tails
Grill Gaurd
Roof Rack
Fog Lights
Higher Output Alternater for the fog lights (95 amps atm)
Full size spare with matching Rim to stick in the Roof Rack
Tow Hooks for the front
Class 2 or 3 Hitch for the and a D ring for the hitch
Possibly Paint the Interior molding black,
Center Console from a 2nd Gen
New HU w/ iPod controlls
4 new speakers

So what do ya think so far? I dont want to do too many things to the engine because it has 192k on it, and i just got the oil leak fixxed (almost 1k, 550 at first, was still leaking, another 350, if I would of known it was gonna cost that much I probably would of got a new engine) and when it goes, i'm going to replace it with a reman, same for the tranny, but a flush and filter are on my list for the trans.
I'm am very open to ideas, i'm gonna have the next few months to put a master list together, and have been working on it for about 3 weeks (been looking at shocks/springs/leafs) and would love any input, espically if its an idea thats not on the list of things I already have to consider.

Sounds like a good list, but I'm pretty sure there weren't no black leather 2ng gen ex's, didn't your truck come with a roof rack? I'd say go with the class 3 hitch. What kind of console from a second gen are you going with?
And about the leafs, I would go with add-a-leaf and coil spacers to give it a little lift.
Where are you planning on getting a new headliner? I thought of trying to find the material and re-doing mine since it use to have a sunroof leak and well made the headliner look like crap in some spots.

keep up the good work and be sure to post pics of it when its completed

I guess instead of roof rack I should of put roof "basket" kinda like this one over at summit.

x92 it did come stock with a roof rack, but its more just like roof "bars" hehe, this one i can throw right ontop of those stocker bars.
Oh and for the center console I was gonna go the later style, the ones that come all the way up to the ashtray (dont use the ashtray, so unless I can think of something to put there, i'll prolly just let it cover it up).

Not 100% on this hadn't deeply looked but think the bottom of the dash is slightly different that it wont connect right you may need to add extra padding where it connects but would be cool to see in a 1st gen. If you do this I wanna see a pic. Good luck.

im just gunna say that ifyour lookin for like mods thatr "cheap and not a ****load of work" i would expect you to move kinda in a direction. you seem to be all over the map. none of this is too labor intensive youve got that covered. but in terms of money it would seem to make sense to me to kinda hav a theme or direction of your mods. but if this no concern to you then your sort of overall fixin up of the ol ex sounds great and youve got somegood ideas so if you do any or all of it. please put some threads up on them and picstures!

look forward to it

I don't think the money is going to be too much of an issue, i'm gonna have an extra $4k or so to play with.

I'm not looking at anything that requires a lot of mechanical knowlege because i'm not sure how involved I can get my dad in this, he drives truck and is kinda burnt out on working on cars. If i need help doing repairs he will certinly help me, but if I say I want to add a whole bunch of performance parts and such he probably wouldnt want to do it, espically since he is only home a few (like 2) days a week as it is. And to do some of the stuff i'd want to do to the engine (even though it runs very well espically for its age) i'd definetly need his help, he's showing me what he can when we do repairs and such, but he's the one that was ASE certified for god knows how many years not me lol.

And Dora you hit the nail on the head, I want to do some general fixing up of the ole Sexy Exy and thats exactly why the stuff I picked is kinda all over the place, its old and could use some TLC so it'll last another 190k miles.

Add me, I'm a "mod".

Just a thought, but i would think that putting money into the reliability of a vehicle would be priority. After all, remember the old saying, "Chrome wont get you home."

Start with engine mods like better fuel mileage.
Or even suspension mods.

Nobody, young or old, wants the embarrassment of sitting on the side of the road in a "Pretty" truck.
