What size tire are you running? How did you get 10" of suspension lift? There is no way you can get 1200+ RTI out of a TTB. That is not possible to have as much flex as ahhjaws. I'd be happy to say I'm wrong if you show some pics. I'm not meaning to pick on you, seriously. The TTB is just not built for large tires or massive flex. The only way to get really good flex is to run cut and turned beams like 410fortune.

IF you want flex, go with the SAS. Check out the SAS board. There are plenty of writeups on SAS with coil, coil-over, and leaf like mine. I have 14" of flex (12" now limited only by shocks until I can get long travel) from Wrangler springs and dog leg shackles. There are a lot of options for SAS suspensions.

RTI is only important as a reference. This will show how the suspension flexes, if all lines are long enough, if anything binds or hits and check driveline angles. The forklift is a good test also.

hey jared thats just down the road from me. did you got to ST high I used to party alot with ST people. Furthermore I never indicated what so ever that a benchmark of 1200 rti was to be done on the d35 ttb setup, that is why i have been asking aboout the sas coversion. and again i have been looking all over these boards looking for some write ups on this conversion, so call me stupid but could some on give me more direction exactly where i can find these instructions.

been there done that!!! I guess I just need some one to hold my hand. I have looked everywhere so shoot me i guess

i go to west valley and valley christian both for 2 classes, if you ever need a hand working on ur ex hit me up

cool **** you got it. and anyone else i'm really reaching out for some sas writes ups that i cant seem to find

Really, just ask questions you have, and search around. That's all I did to figurre out what to do. I really have no idea how to score myself on an RTI ramp. All I know is it was a 30 degree ramp, I went up 76 inches, which means my tire was 38 inches off the ground, over 3 feet. That's probably enough for what I want. To get what Rick has, he spent a LOT more than I did. He has coil-overs, which extend a lot more than coils and shocks, like mine. The shocks would limit the travel.

I just did a search for "SAS" and there are over 75 threads in the "offroad explorer projects" forum alone. I guess if you're dead set on leaves then, yes you're not going to find much info here, since I only know of 2 or 3 rigs with leaf sprung SAS.

KrazyK, try to relax a little bit. You seem a little high strung. First of all, welcome to the forum! If you are nice to them they will bend over backwards to help you out. Easy on the profanity. Rick likes this site to be PG-13, and please don't post in all CAPS.

The search button is on the Explorer Forum homepage . It works pretty good. It's OK to ask questions, just have a little patience.

You stated you could already flex like ahhjaws and you wanted an RTI of 1200. There are certain realities that need to be understood prior to undergoing a project of this magnatude. Leaf springs are simple in my book just because I have spent years building Jeeps with leaf spring suspension. If leafs are not done just right, you can have serious issues. I will ask that person's permission prior to issueing it here.

The going flex is between 10" and 14" of wheel travel, depending on the engineering and setup. Drivability and handleing are varied as much as paint colors. It's all on what you want and what you can afford.

Here's some links for you to visit on SAS:

If you made it 76" up a 30 degree ramp (tire is now 38" in the air) your score on a 30 degree ramp is 667 (I believe the wheelbase is 114")

If the ramp was a 20 degree ramp you would have driven up the ramp 111" which would be a score of 975.

Here is a RTI calculation form.

can you post that form please? I dont know how scoring works either.

A 2080 on a RTI would mean that the tire was over twice as high as the wheelbase of the rig...................THAT is what I want to see pics of!!!:D

So is 667 any good? :D

you mean that the tire would be twice the distance of the wheelbase up the ramp. assuming a wheelbase of 112" (4-door) and a 20* ramp that would be a tire 80" in the air. But we're talkin about a zuk here so the wheelbase is what? 80" so a wheel 55-60" in the air. . thats still dang crazy.

I'm guessing on a ramp I could put a tire 45-50" in the air for a 20* RTI of 1200 or so (just guessing from what i've done so far. still haven't lifted a tire yet on any rock I've tried so ??)

\Hey guys just want to say thanks for all your help; I understand that wheelbase is a huge factor in scoring a high rti score. the Back axle is being swapped out with a full size 8.8 out of a bronco and now i am currently looking for a fullsize dana 44. The rims i am getting will have major backspacing on them to further my wheelbase. If anybody has anysuggestions let me know.
