Matt's '92/'99 4X4 V8/4R70W swap!

And right after he pointed to it. I remembered that I knew that's were it was. The memory must have been locked in a time capsule.

All I can really think of that I need to get now are oxygen sensors and bungs.

should have pulled them from the same truck!!!

freebie, especially the aft cat sensors.....they are just monitors they dont need to be new

Nah that truck was pretty much on the ground. Didn't feel like payin for used ones anyway.

I'll use 2 used ones I have for after the cats and get new ones from autozoo for the fronts.

I wonder. Could you use just one sensor for the post cats? Just split the wires to both plugs?

I dont think so............but good question? You can use Ebay cheaters to bypass them

the PCM gets a signal from all 4 sensors, not sure if it would get cornfused my guess is voltage would be off = CEL

Have fun with it, and try to avoid busting knuckles early on.

from what I understand the post cat sensors send a deadpan signal to the PCM cause the cats use up the last of the oxygen. When the cat goes out then the signal fluxes like a pre-cat sensor thus the engine light comes on to signal a failed converter.

So maybe it would work. But iDK

Wow I'm already looking at turbochargers, this is sad.

ONE THING AT A TIME!...

...But I have been looking at them too...

If the exhaust system is as ridiculous as this is, I might as well add a few more tubes while I'm at it...

well the stainless spacer didn't work out so I'm gonna use the flanges from the factory headers. They're almost a half inch.

Damnit. Earlier they were saying there was a slight chance of percipitation, now they say full on thunderstorms until next Thursday.

I want to move this to next weekend. Sunny and upper 70s. I allready have that Friday off cause of the SMORR trip.

I feel like a jerk to keep movin it around on you guys buy i don't want to mess somethin up cause I'm soaked and angry.

Also Id like more time to fiddle with the shifter and get it right.

Yes ditto, just turn off the rear O2 signals in the PCM. Don't believe the weather man, they are wrong more often than right.

Well I think i got the shifter figured out.

So next time somebody tells ya an aod shifter don't work on a 4r70w tell em "uh uuhh. This guy matt I know in the Internet says it does!!" that ought to put em in they're place.

However. If they tell you it's a real pain in the ass, and that you have to cut and weld damn near everything you need brackets wise from your own stock. And that it'll probly void every frikin warranty the thing has.

Well he might just be right.

The number of detents is the same, but you have to deal with the cable shifter parts. If you have the AODE parts from a 94/95 Mustang, that should work fine for the 4R70W.

Note what Jamie pointed out, the shift lever on the side of the trans comes in two versions, depending on how the shift cable connects to it. I had to change my first AOD, the trans came from an F150, and it went into my Lincoln Mark VII(same as 86-93 Mustang).

I just used my stock column shifter and cable. Made it loop at the side of the bellhousing because of extra length but connects right to 4r70w shifter arm. Detents are perfect. Been like that for a year now.
Guess you're stuck on floor shifter though.

Yep column no fun.

Matt...You aren't done yet? I was expecting to see a pic of you with the engine installed in the bay...

Ryan

Nah last weekend got rained out.

And this weekend its supposed to be frickin 90 dam degrees.

Guess ill just have to be uncomfortable.

THERE was 5' of the snow on the ground when I did mine, the barn is 200 yards from the house at my parents (where I did the work, I was also living here at the time) hiking through the snow, spending the first 45 minutes with the heater on near the tools) Brrrrr! Uncomfortable sucks, but the desire is there!! Its sooooooooooooooooooooooo worth it
