measuring rim widths

I am looking to put 265/75/r15 (31x10.50r15) tires on my rims but i dont know how wide they are. I am currently running 32x11.50/r15 which will fit on a 15x8 through a 15x10 rim. So does anyone know the official way to measure rim width? Is it outside to outside or bead seat to bead seat? Thanks

I am pretty sure that it is bead seat to bead seat.

Just for everyones future reference Black Magic is correct. Measuring rim width shoudl be from bead seat to bead seat.
