I have a mountaineer with all wheel drive. I am thinking about getting the All Terrain tires. I don't do any serious off roading, that explains the AWD, but I do live in upstate New York and would like the ability to go on dirt, mud, and deep snow without worrying about getting stuck.
Ford, and most manufactures, are pushing going with the same type of tire that came with the vehicle. That would be M/S tread, not All Terrains. I currently have the original Good Year RT/S's. They are poor performers in snow.
Would All Terrains cause any serious issues for an AWD vehicle?
The tread pattern on the M/S tires looks weak for all manufactures. Should I assume the more aggressive tread will handle snow better?
