So, I'm trying to get rid of my Ex before the HG problems gets outa control, I flushed my collant system and then applied this Bar's Leak Head Gasket repair addative to the collant, ran it like it said and then drained it and filled her up again with anti.
2 questions;
1> will the remaining addative slightly change the color of my antifreeze? the suff i poured in was thick and almost a copper color, pulling the cap it looks fine, but in the overflow, it looks kinda brownish.

2>if my HG is badenough (milkshake-oil/antifreeze), will the collant seep into the oil or will the oil seep into the collant? in any case, i changed my oil when i flushed the collant system ~ 2 weeks ago, could i tell if there is collant in the oil by pullin the dip stick? what signs should i look for?

Oh yea, if i trade it in on a new one, how long do i have for them to reverse the trade? or, is it all final once i sign. I live in Oregon if that makes a differece.

Thanks guys,
Tony

Oil system has a higher pressure... the oil would seep into the coolent. If there was oil in the coolent, it would be indicated with a rainbow effect in the drained coolent.

The milkshake effect would probably be caused by something more then a headgasket leak alone.. cracked heads or block.

those stop leak things are chemical crap and are garbage, they can cause more damage then good.....

your head gasket is shot and need to be replaced

What is stopping you from taking the heads off and replacing the head gasket?

Its simpler then you think, the hardest part will be removing the exhaust bolts... I wouldn’t even remove the headers, too much work to just put back together.

Take upper intake off, remove lower intake and swing out of the way. Take valve covers off... 8 head bolts per head; remove head bolts in cross pattern (not in a circular pattern). Remove heads, scrape off old head gasket. Blow out cylinders with blow gun, clean intake manifolds and intake ports with steel wool + a dab of sea foam.

Then go back and clean out heads and intake ports with warm, soapy water. Replace head gasket (felpro or ford), reinstall heads (NEW HEAD BOLTS, felpro), replace valve cover gaskets (FORD or Felpro-permadry ONLY), replace lower intake gasket (FORD replacement ONLY), replace lower intake, replace upper intake... boom you’re done...

With a helper it would take you all of a Saturday. The longest part will be removing the exhaust bolts, and cleaning out the heads + intake... which isn’t mandatory, but if you are going to be taking them apart, you might as well help your truck breathe again.

Well, today my wife and i traded it in "as is." And drove off in a 2000 XLT "loaded". It was kind of a kick in the nuts, but i just didn't have the time to jump in the works... i would of much rather taken stuff apart rather then pu$$ out, but again i have a florida move to plan and i'm working a lot of OT to save the bucks up before july. i'm kind glad to not have to worry about it anymore. now i have a newer toy to start playing with, and it's a SOHC, more options then my old OHV.....

how do you figure that? the aftermarket has tons of goodies for the ohv, and practically none for the sohc

Holy crap, you couldn't have said that any better... Yea, i'm really excited with this one, only driving for a day i can tell it's got a lot more get up and go than my old 96. thanks for all the input... oh, one more question, the tires that are on it now are 235/75 and i measured the wheel at 16, any idea how much bigger i can go with out any rubbing problems? from the ground to the top of the tire i got about 28-29 inches or so.... thanks again.
