Hello All - I put new heads, pushrods, rocker arms and a new camshaft synchronizer on my 4.0 ohv. I am getting cylinder misfire codes and a code that the engine is running rich, and a metallic tapping sound from the engine.
I took off the valve covers and took off the rocker arms and pushrods. Nothing was damaged and everything was coated in oil. I checked compression and all pistons are within 10% of each other. I checked vacuum at idle and it held steady at 15.
Any suggestions on what to do next would be greatly appreciated. One thing I was considering was if I put the camshaft synchronizer 180 degrees off. I had the engine at TDC with the mark on the crankshaft pulley at 0 degrees and that both valves were closed so I think that I am ok. However, if it was 180 off would the engine still run and cause these symptoms?
I had the fuel injectors refurbished. Could they be causing these problems?
How about a bad/stuck lifter?
The spark plug wires and plug are new and are properly hooked up.
Thank you for your ideas!
