Well I've been talked into taking a trip that I can't afford. LoL
I've just made reservations for a cabin at KOA. (all thats left! No RV spots left)

I'll need a list of trails that a mildly lifted, trac-loc only, but experienced... err... practiced driver can enjoy
Sweeeeeeet!

If you can grab a Charles Wells guide book for Moab area trails (Amazon), I highly suggest that!! Has everything you need to know right at your fingertips, and worth every penny!!

I know your rig. You can run with us, on at least 4 days of trails (of the 6), that I'm planning on, no problem if you like. All epic scenery, easy going, with some challenges in the mix. If not, you might find a group wanting to do the same trail you do, at the morning drivers meetings. Either way, your going to have an incredible time.

My rig is similarly equipped, and I also have lots of ... err ... practice.

Order placed on Amazon... Was pleasantly surprised to see the same publisher had a similar book for trails of Arizona sooo.....

My wife Sandi is coming as well. :)

edit: In fact, she's downright excited about it!

Don't know if its ok to ask here, but I don't suppose any of the attendees has a decent winch they're willing to part with? I'm finally getting a good winch Bumper (Thank you RockRanger!) and would love to have a winch to install on it. If you've got one, and you're attending, let me know and maybe we can work something out.

Edit: Nevermind. Ordered a new Smittybilt on Amazon :)

Looks like I have a prior event on that same week/weekend so I will be heading east to Bowling Green Ky. Attending the 40th Buick GS nationals. Haven't been since 83. Maybe Moab in 22.

Tim

Down to the wire.... Lil Eddie is at BrakeMasters now getting the AC worked on. They have promised me I'll have it tomorrow so we can get the bumper welded up and installed. Then I have to find time to paint it... and find a winch for it. And if the AC isn't fixed today I have take it back next week so they can finish it.
Speaking of AC, whats the weather like at Moab this time of year?

I'm going to guess mid 80's for highs, and 50's for a low. It was 90 there yesterday, but the high this coming Monday is 70, and lows in the 40's. Anything is possible!

I would just keep an eye on the forecast, the closer we get. We have seen it snow/hail on the trails, rains the next day, and then nothing but warm sunshine the rest. Bring a jacket, and an umbrella! LOL

Slider kit acquired, now time to fab and weld. Rear bumper and sliders this weekend.

Nothing like waiting to till the last min…

HA! The up pipes on my Superduty 7.3 was leaking. So currently, the turbo is sitting in a box next to it.. The Superduty is my tow vehicle. Need to get it fixed..

I did get my 2m radio in the JKUR. Any hams showing up?

I know what you mean. We're in the middle of welding up the new bumper, which will still need paint, I've got a Smittybilt winch ordered, and the AC will be finished up on Tuesday.... and I work 9-6:30 every day this week.

It wouldn't be an epic meet, if there wasn't any last minute work to be done. I bet some work will still be done, after setting camp! 🤣

I'm sure most, are feeling the same Time crunch. It wouldn't be Moab, without it! Somehow, we manage to pull it off. 🤘

T-minus 6 days, for my crew to head out! Wooo!

LoL I agree. I was just thinking how difficult it would be to paint the bumper at the campgrounds! And I may actually install the winch (I hope with assistance) at the campgrounds. Depends on how long it takes to arrive.

. . . but then it only takes a minute . . .

Up at Kevin’s working exhaust, a bit of suspension, and lightning / wiring . . . , so yeah, running out of minutes…

Good looking sliders for the Explorer!

Paul

UPDATE: Since no interest, cancelled the reservation. . . .

If you're kicking yourself for not arranging reservations at a local campground for Moab, I have a potential opportunity. . . .

Getting an lodging upgrade this year and the tent site I reserved Tuesday through Monday will be open if anyone wants it, but need to contact me tomorrow so if no takers I can cancel the reservation before Tuesday . . .

Paul

Definitely down to the wire. I am now really starting to feel it.

My rig is almost done with everything that counts. I can almost guarantee there will be some campsite work being done to little things; dome lights, double checking harnesses, ect.

lots to get done! I do need to do a bit of wiring for the trip but that's quick and easy at least. got my rear bumper done and paint drying now. welding sliders next.

Yep, too many projects, barely enough time. . .

Got the drawer stops installed and the shelf deck bolted down to the frame on the Outland Solution Drawer set.
Drawers Mounted (MAY 21).jpg

Another small thing knocked out was leaf spring "stops" to let the leafs articulate, but stay in-line.
Leaf Spanner (MAY 21).jpg

And a fuel cell from Phil's (Albino94ltd) rig stashed where the OEM spare used to reside.

Now just focused on packing, consolidating spares, vehicle loading, etc.
