man I had never seen those pics of my Explorer going up the first part! LOL!
That hill is unnerving. if I bring my Explorer this year I won't be doing it again I don't think.
As an update (like I emailed Gerald) I WILL be there, whether or not I have the explorer with me is the question :).

Good to hear you'll be attending Matt...I'm tellin you guys, we should caravan...Not only because it would be easier but I don't want to have to get directions and go by myself  :D

Typically the only reason I don't caravan out to Moab is my Explorer tends to run slower then other peoples in the mountains (still haven't found a good reason why) but if I take my truck I am totally ok with that.
FYI, if I take my truck, it won't be going off-roading, I'll either be riding passenger with others or just doing some scenery runs out there.

Counting down the days I am. I will be there friday afternoon and will be leaving for Phoenix on Monday

:bounce:

I'm sorry I'm lazy and the thread is dam long. What are the exact times and dates everyone is meeting?

Hey Derrick,
Are you planning on going?

You don't need to dig around to find out about meeting places, trails, dinner and what not. All the info is in one place... right here:

Ray: I'm thinking about it. Right now we have a camping trip planned for Loon lake but I have never been to Moab and would rather do that and join all you guys and gals! Are you going? I will let you know as it gets closer.

Rick: Thanks!

Join us for moab and then hit loon and the con or dusy over 4th of july weekend. I am thinking about heading up then depending on work and $$$. Should be fun to see all the nuts in their rigs going crazy in the little sluce.

My stearing wheel still has grip marks from that one! LOL

Gemini Bridges

Perry, great idea. It's right there in the same area where Golden Spike and Metal Masher are and it is a great stocker run with an awesome finish at the Gemini Bridges. I don't think anyone went there last year. It would be a perfect choice for those who haven't seen it yet.

I'll include it in the itinerary if we can figure when. With the smaller groups already mentioned, I believe the runs can end sooner and give us a chance to hit more trails after the primary runs :bounce:

I'm terrribly disappointed this will be such a weak showing of Explorers this year. I believe that we could spot a sport Explorer and get it all the way up to this pose on the Bridges. If I had a streeter I would think that is an awesome photo. I guess we really are on different pages in taste :(

And did what???
It had to be good if you didn't invite anyone else along with you.

I still want to do some of the harder stuff, but figure we can do some of the site seeing stuff this time around.

Just picked up a new digital camera so we want to take lots of pictures.

I'm with Perry, I'd like to do some hard stuff, but this'll be the first time I go off-roading with the lift and such, so I'd like to take it a little easy. I'd love to do Gemini Bridges, but only if I can get a shot like that one Gerald...that is awesome

Im up for whatever. I would like to stick to some of the mild to wilder trails but would love to see some of the scenic stuff. I was hoping for golden crack

Gerald: What are you running now? Did you get those 35's installed? How about the front locker?

I chickened out on the front locker and sent it back. My job went part time and I am barely making enough to pay the bills and couldn't afford the nearly $700 (locker + labor) it was going to cost me. I was going to pay for labor to drop the front axle and then install the locker myself, then pay to have them reinstall the axle. I don't have a garage or good tools anymore and took a look at that front and decided I didn't want to try that alone on my back in an apartment parking lot with no help. Book labor hours for front axle R&R at the dealer is 4 hours, which confirmed the job was over my head with the tools I have right now.

After Jefe's post on installing 35's I am inspired to go ahead and do that. It will be my next mod (besides rocksliders I am currently working on), but I don't know if I can afford to get it done by Moab.

The run I did at Tellico last weekend was brutal. Just about everyone broke something. Tierods, axles, you name it. I started thinking about what would have happened if I was locked in front with a Dana35 hybrid and 35" tires and broke something. Herc would be stuck out in the middle of nowhere while I waited until Monday to go to town and get a part. My vehicle would be stripped bare before I got back.

I am thinking about leaving it open and fashioning a front winch like mav did to take care of anywhere that my open front couldn't take me. I've already gone to places that are much tougher than anywhere I would have believed. Any more capability and I'll end up in places that really hurt. I'd need to buy a beater to take there instead of Herc.
