yup, you could run the regular length ones on a lowered truck, but youre better off with the ones specifically for lowered ones.

actually, the lowered ones are valved with more compression damping to compensate for the reduced preload on the torsion bars.

thread's old but- monroe sensatrac would be a good choice for a soft ride.

Kyb?

What about KYB? Does anyone have an opinion on KYB shocks?

I have KYB for the front of my Explorer and they are a bit harsh. If you do everyday driving onroad and rarely go offroad, you can jitter several screws lose.

I am surprised with what everyone is saying about the Edelbrocks because I have them for the rear and they're fine. When I installed the front set, the handling got worst than the KYB. I hope it's not because Edelbrock labeled the shocks wrong, sending me the lowered version with the part number for stock height. As I drive down the highway with rolling bumps, the front of the Explorer bobs up and down like you're fishing for bass. These are brand new shocks and I took them off for and reinstalled the KYB. I'm thinking about sending them back to Edelbrock and have them send me another set. Or should I go with Bilsteins?

I'd have them replaced. I have the Edelbrocks', and I do like them, but I was wondering if there might be something better. I don't feel any magic in them, I have 35K on them in two years.

My front end doesn't "bob" too much, and hardly ever bottoms out. I have the lowered versions and the X-Spec kit, lowered about two inches to match the back height. The back will bottom out on good size bumps. Good luck,

Thanks Don,

I will try contacting Edelbrock during the week. Hopefully, they will replace them because I purchased the front set separately from the rear set. I've spoken to a shop out here and they seem to recommend Bilsteins. I don't know if they are worth paying that much for but there are various places that will sell a set of 4 for approximately $250.
