Good Day to everybody! I am brand new to this site and am looking for some advice. I am currently customizing my 2000 Ford Ranger XLT. The ultimate goal is to have a 3" body lift, flow master dual exhaust and 33" tires. I currently have a set of 245-45ZR18 toyo proxes 4 and am planning to keep the rims, just up the tires. Other than those rims(and my police siren:)) the truck is stock. A few things I need to know are, will the ratio of my transmission slip because of the bigger tires? Which brand of AT tires would you suggest? What is the best lift kit to purchase? And last but not least, will I need spacers for the set of 33's I am putting on the truck? I am open to any and all ideas, but I plan to have a sweet ranger by January!

3" BL should fit them, but might need some trimming. Not a big deal with a ranger. Just throw a block in the rear and, depending on what setup 00 had, either a coil spacer or a TT.

I have just a few more questions about the customization I am doing to my truck before I actually go ahead and do it! To introduce the issue at hand again, I have a 2000 Ford Ranger and am looking to put a 3" body lift as well as either 265-65-18 or 265-70-18 sized tires on her. I currently have 245-45-18. I have found tires, body lift kits and I know exactly what I need to do to get it done, but I have found myself in a hiccup. I have been on 1010tires.com, and a warning came up saying that they suggest staying within a 3% diameter difference of stock tires, and if not followed I could be running the risk of brake failure(which is something I do not want to deal with!). So my question here is, what have some of you other ranger enthusiasts done about brakes for big tires? And what should I do? Also on the same website, I have found that the speedometer difference would run me either 15% or 19% too slow, and my question here is what do I need to do about this, and will it effect the "jim" unit on the computer of the truck? Please help!

Welcome to this forum! I've moved this thread to the Ranger section because the New Members section is primarily intended for new members to introduce themselves. Technical questions belong in other sections on this site.

Apologies

My apologies for posting new thread for same topic! This is the first forum I've even been on and it's all quite confusing!:salute:

......Have you taken a look at the "How to: in my signature yet???...It does hold a lot of information that might answer your questions...;)

I have gone over all the how to in your signature and it has been very helpful.. Thank you once again

...Did you find the answers to your question???

Yes I did, thank you once again. I have ordered the lift kit, purchased the tires and have an appointment for the dual exhaust to be done, after the tires are on I am going to the ford dealership for the reprogamming of the GEM module. all in all with the 265-65-18, flowmaster dual exhaust, lift kit and reprgramming, I am spending less than 1400 dollars. Great deals! I hope to be able to post pictures soon!

...Cool....Just be sure to get your exhaust put on after the lift...It will save you from doing it twice...;)

...Get your "Ranger Registry" started and we will be waiting for the before and after pics...:biggthump

...Don't forget to add some pics and a link to your registry here too..:D

Will do! I saved myself a great deal of money by purchasing the lift kit from summit racing on ebay(150 instead of 190). Got a great deal on a set of 265-65-18s from tires plus(604 with the buy 3 get 1) and my dual exhaust guy I went to for my old mustang I had(sold her and miss her) said he would hook me up for 270 out the door! Pics to be up soon!
