Hey guys,

I just got done replacing my alternator on my 05 Ex. I was checking out the motor after I was done. Looking for leaks, and etc... What I did fine, I'm not sure if its a issue or not. Around the base of the oil fill tube, is a little wet. Its also a little loose, I've checked my oil once a week. I've found no burn off or etc... Oil level is always good, where it should be. My question is, is the oil fill tube like this on all 4.6L Exp's?

I can't say for certain on 4.6, but if the fill tube is mounted on a valve cover, it is inserted at the factory which makes the covers, and is die-formed to hold it in place. If the tube feels a bit loose, that forming operation has loosened or was not completed properly. You can go nuts, and replace the cover (therefore the fill tube also), or you can carefully degrease the area around the tube to cover, and rub on a coating of silicone rubber with a fingertip, which if allowed to cure 24 hours or so, will effectively seal the leakage, or you can leave it alone. imp ;)

It's factory, the truck motor wise is stock. I've try to find info on the part, but can't. It looks like It's a three parts. Base, neck, cap.
