The transmission should be the same as long as they can bolt up a transfer case.
AWD transfer case is 4X4 all the time, just a 4x4 transfer case should have a option for 2wd.

when looking for a new transmission is there any particular ones you recommend I get years or truck wise. Like do you recommend I get a ford transmission or mercury
