Moving up in the world!!!

Let us know how much the shipping ends up being (what they actually charge you). So what size tires are you gonna be running?

The total was $382 and some change. I know they weren't trying to screw me! He said that the flexy springs were a little heavier than the regular springs. Later - Nate

The more I think about it, the more it could make sense to strap your spare tire inside somewhere for wheeling since it's possible that in a flat tire situation you may not be able to get the spare out from under the rig. Removing that could make it more convenient to disconnect them, if not, aren't they pretty close to the wheels anyways? Maybe reach around them?

That's exactly what I did, but only because the hook on the end of the jack/spare tire handle busted off. That and it's kinda hard to fit a 32" under there. But yeah, that was a fear of mine. And who needs a sway bar under there? :D

Oh, trust me, I'm glad I put mine there. If you haven't tried it, it makes the truck handle so much more predictably and makes it way more stable. Not to mention the added corner-exit speeds on on-ramps! :D Though we also installed that and the receiver hitch at once. They kind of have the same effects on handling.

I used to have an EE sway bar under there but one day I noticed one side of it hanging down, the bolt and bushing had fallen out at some point. So I just decided to remove it all together. With the lift and 32's, I'm not too worried about corner speeds. And with the bigger arch in my leaf springs, it doesn't handle all that much worse.

I hate the bolt/bushing thing....one was wicked loose when we were putting it in. I'd known it was cuz the rear felt pretty loose and I always heard a clunk from the rear when i'd hit a bump. Nothing some loctite won't fix, assuming you still have the hardware, of course. :p Next may be some poly bushings.

I don't even know how long I had been driving around like that, let alone where the hardware ended up. :D So I just decided to take it off. I'll probably end up going with something like the Currie antisway bars made for rock crawling once I can get started on my SAS next year.

nice, i'd be interested to see how that works out. what, do they have a progressive roll resistance or something? softer than stock?

Currie Antirock Sway Bars
It says they don't work as well as stock, but it'd still be better than not having anything at all. Plus, I'm looking at doing a 4-link w/coilovers front and rear, so I definately think this would help out on the street. Yes, I still want to keep this street legal after I'm finished.

That's cool, so it's really looser than stock. Allows a looser blend of flex and sway control? If I didn't like the tight handling and the fact I can get disco's, I could go that route someday.

Yeah, it acts like a torsion bar connecting each side of the axle to help while on relatively flat ground. I also figure that once I can finally get the SAS done, I won't be trying to out corner many vehicles anyways.

werd. :smoke:

Any updated did you get the springs?? Install??

Updated

OOPS, I forgot that this thread was still going. Yeah, I got the new leafs put on. That wasn't the problem, it was getting the TT done to match the front to the rear for ride height. At first everything was good, then BAM it all went to **** in a hurry. I hit a pothole that messed everything up. :fire: After $1000+ everything looks like its back on track. My suspension seems to have been almost completely replaced. Once the snow is gone I will go thrash her on the trail, see what breaks, and test out the new springs. :D Man, do I wish I had a TTB frontend! :banghead: Later - Nate
