Hey folks, I'm finally going to lift my X. Friday, hopefully, or sometime next the begining of next week, I'll be ordering 2" lift leaf springs from Carrier Spring Services Ltd., after they come in, I'll put on my ProComp AALs. :D Hopefully  , I have enough height left in my adjuster bolts, for the TT, to get level! Otherwise  , I don't think a little bit of a rake will be to bad, as long as it isn't drastic! I think this lift will compliment my new tires, It'll probably make 'em look stock though! Later - Nate

I'll look forward to the pics and write up.. BTW it may take 3-4 weeks to get springs from Carrier. They generally don't have them pre-made. It can take a few weeks for them to get made and then another week or so to ship through customs.

Is the price they list for shipping for real? The "best way", they listed was $6.95,... I think!?! Now springs aren't that light, so I'm just wondering if I'll be getting hit for more charges! More info would be great! Later - Nate

Yes, their "best way" shipping charge is for real. I had the same thoughts when I ordered my springs last year. My shipping charges came to a whole $1.85. They'll come in 3 separate packages, each spring wrapped in heavy duty saran wrap and a box containing the u-bolts. So I have no idea how they can offer shipping rates like that, but they do. And yes, it'll take a few weeks to get them in.

You think the add-a-leaves will be necessary? You do realize that raising the front more than 2 inches will rapidly wear out ball joints, cv joints, etc? Not to mention you'll have much less downward articulation. As in you'll need new, longer shocks. Trust me, I sheared the top nuts off both my bilsteins. They literally shot off.

I was there and they literally shot off... It sounded (to me) like a mataliic Ka-ping..

You know, I'm wondering, the reason the shipping rate is so cheap is probably because its shipped though Canada. Now with putting on the AALs, I read that you only get 1.5" - 2" of lift from them, so would I get the max lift from them because the springs will be new??? Or will it be, "it depends on your vehicle, because everyone's vehicle is different", schpiel!

black rims are badass... i regret not getting black,,

I like my rims too! I bought them because they don't rust or if they do you can't see it. ;) They were pretty cheap, so if I jack one up, it'll be easy to replace! :D Later - Nate

Well, I ordered the 1" lift springs so, when I put on the AALs I won't neccessarilly max my TT out! I'm going to take off my rear swaybar though. I ordered the springs with the comment,"make them flexy, please"! :D According to the confremation at the end, I should have them in about 2 -2.5 weeks, atleast in theory  .

I can't wait to see what it looks like when you're finished. Don't forget to post pics

I'll post pics for everyone. Don't worry 'bout it! :D Later - Nate

I just got off the phone with Carrier springs, I guess they found out they were losing money shipping to or in the US. They sent me this e-mail to:

No Problem making you flex springs.
Only one problem our shipping calculator doesn't work properly. Shipping is $95.00 Pair.
I will upgrade your order for the custom flex springs for no additional charge.
Thanks,
Tyler

Go figure, when I go to order, the shipping is goes up! :thumbdwn: Oh well, atleast I get custom leaf springs on my rig! :D  But, Tyler, the builder from Carrier, advised against putting in AALs, he said that they would give me a horrible ride, so I opted for the 2" lift springs instead, and I'll sell my AALs! They are shipping them out Tuesday, SWEET, they'll be here in no time! :D I think someone on the forum should do an SAS, then a SOA, and get the 10" - 15" lift springs, imagine the meats you could stuff under it... 40" - 44" Super Swamper IROKs, its just an idea!!!

Yeah their shipping calculator to the states has never worked (and they aren't trying to screw you) $95 is what I paid to ship mine (they are very heavy).. The shipping guy you spoke to "Tyler" is Tyler Carrier one of the company owners :D

That shipping charge may be in Canadian funds. When I ordered my Springs in July of 2004, I paid online with my Visa and my total came to $287.59 (including the $1.83 shipping charge). When they finally shipped the springs in Sept, they sent a hand written company receipt outlining the charges. (All funds are Canadian) 2" springs = $366.99, 4 u-bolts and hardware = $40.00, shipping = $80.00, for a total of $486.99. But, they never charged my Visa card anything over the $287.59 that I originally paid. So maybe that will be the case for you.

Man, I hope so! That would be great! I'll find out when i get the credit card bill!
The wifey almost had a aneurism when I told her that the price for shipping was $95 bucks. So I called the local spring shop, come to find out the local spring shop quoted me the price for the wrong springs. $170+ a side for MONO springs  , not the 4 leaf pack, that'll be 200+ a side for the spring there. It was still cheaper to go through Carrier, so, I called Carrier back and said go ahead and put the order through.

EE swaybars + disconnects. ;) I've yet to take John here on a hellride (maybe Monday if he joins us?) but it's way fun on the road. Not to mention incredibly safer and more sure-footed.

I'm planning on getting the EE front swaybar and disconnects, but, I was also planning to take my rear swaybar off completely! That way I don't have to crawl under to disconnect the rear when I hit the trails.

The more I think about it, the more it could make sense to strap your spare tire inside somewhere for wheeling since it's possible that in a flat tire situation you may not be able to get the spare out from under the rig. Removing that could make it more convenient to disconnect them, if not, aren't they pretty close to the wheels anyways? Maybe reach around them?
