I am looking to get a little sound out of my 4.0 SOHC so i asked my friend what he thinks i should get and he said the flowmaster 70 series. I looked it up later and it says the 70 series is for big blocks. Does this matter, and will it sound very good with that? Its a dual inlet muffler and single outlet, is the 70 series the only one that offers dual inlet? I just want a little rumble not loud at all. And not sound like a foreign car. I want to add performance and gas mileage also.

Sound clips of my 4.0L SOHC. Flowmaster 40 catback with 2.5" piping. I get alot of compliments about sounding like a V8, even though I don't think so, but w/e.

That does sound good, but i have to have the dual inlet muffler and i dont think they make a 40 series with that. Does anyone have any sounds of the 70 series or even the 50 series?

Yes, they make a 40 series with dual in - single out. Thats what I am running right now (V8 though).
I'm looking for the part number now.

Well, I guess they do not make a 40 series dual in - single out anymore. Mine is over 3 years old. All I found were the 50 and 70 series.

The 50 series is - FLO-524553

The 70 series is - FLO-524703. It says it is smaller than the Big Blocks, and made for reduced interior volume levels. Maybe this means it is quieter?!?!?!

Are you only wanting a Flowmaster, or will another brand name work also?

Any brand will work. I just want it to have a good sound and help a little with performance.

hey im runnin the flowmaster 50 series on a 4.0 sohc and i love it its a single in dual out and i get complements of running v8 as well i wouldnt choose anything over it

Well, the 50 series is a little louder than the 40 series - but it still has a good sound to it. Depending on where you place the muffler and what size pipe you use, they do sound good, but some people think they can be a little loud. You'll notice a difference with one.

yeah i get what ur sayin im runnin a 2 3/4 inch pipe out the back with 3 1/2 inch tip

Sporty - We were typing at the same time and I didn't see your post. I was telling Cypher about the difference in the 50 and 40. I bet the duals do sound good...

So how does the 70 compare with those?
