to tell you the truth:

The ::edited:: Muffler with a ::edited:: Configuration will give you the most hp and the bestest sounding explorer the world has ever heard.

:d

honestly,

homework is the only way to get a grasp on what sound your trying to ultimately accomplish. Even then, it might take you a few visits to the muffler shop to get it right.

Some people go by polls. Some by mathematical equations. Some just hear another vehicle get on it and say "i want mine to sound like that!". Others spends a lot of money and time to figure out "that's good enough". Others just buy what the cool kids have to be "in", then brag about it in a signature on an online forum, then laugh at anyone who doesn't have it.

Eye of the beholder is what it boils down too...

Ef, youtube and the hundreds of other car sites are your friend if your trying to come up with the exact sound of perfection you might/will want from your rig.

In my experience, spend some time dissecting any and every combo you hear, making note of the diameter, length, configuration and muffler type, least of all the displacement and engine type of the motors. After spending 100's of hours finding exactly what configuration will produce the sound your looking for, build it! After all, no matter what sound comes out after you finally build it, you will have convinced yourself it's perfection (after the time and work it took to come to that conclusion) and no one will ever be able to tell you different.

You will then be completely content knowing you have the baddest sounding ex in the land; and you will be the only one who will ever know it.

IMO Magnaflow is the only way to go. Flowmasters sound like **** and have a horrible resonance at highway speeds.

The Delta 50's don't have this issue like the older style ones. Mine is quieter on the freeway then the old Magnaflow that came out, or should I say rusted out...

i love the sound of a fox 5.0, so id guess thats what im after. after hearing alot of vids on youtube, im wanting a magnaflow muffler, and im thinking of going dual exhaust, with the tips exiting in the rear corners of the truck at an angle

your explorer will not sound exactly like a fox 5.0, they have a different cam, and the ex will have longer pipes which also alter the sound, as well as the pipes being lower to the ground on a fox body, which also affects tone from inside the vehicle. You will be able to get close, but not quite the same. Im just throwing this out there to ease the dissapointment when it isnt exactly what you want.

i know it wont sound just like a fox 5.0, but i would like to get close.
