ok changed every sensor still doing the same thing i already took the rad.belt.waterpump+fan now to the harmonic balencer but wat else do i have to take off to get to the chain >? its always right behind the cover but mine is like a bare block ????? in front

What about the injectors? Do you think those could be bad.

Pardon my comment if you have changed the injectors already. I'll post a few pics from my 1st and 2nd gen repair manual (OHV model) about the timing chain....be ready for pics

yes i cleaned them and nothing so my buddy had some brand new ones for his NOTE he has same year and every thing

i instaled them and im in the process of takeing front of the block off to get to the timeing

sry for the delay its freezeing cold in fl but i cant get the harmonic balencer bolt out for sh*t it wont budge wat would help me get it off

Check out both of these threads...the bottom one is from a person with a 93 explorer, the top one the person has a 98 SOHC...both may help.

Heat up the balancer. If the balancer is cold (i.e. unheated garage) it makes it nearly impossible to press it off. As the steel has contracted on the crank snout. Warming it up a bit will allow the balancer to expand a little, and it will slide off a bit easier.

Case in point:

I had to install a new HiPerf (BhJ, SFI cert.) on my Olds350, it would NOT go on, no matter how much I tried. And I have the proper Balancer install tool/press! Well, I was working out side, in a covered carport. It was about 50 deg. outside. I took the balancer inside, put it in the oven @ 250 deg. Baked it for about 15 min. and went to go re-install it....it went on almost all the way by hand!...only the last 1/4" or so had be pressed on, and even THAT went on SUPER easy.....

Heat is your friend!

This is how I removed mine...

Loosen the harmonic balancer bolt, the bolt should have about 10 threads left engaged with the crank....

And I know the following is going to sound weird, but just do it....

Remove a few of the bolts that are used to bolt the A/C compressor to A/C compressor bracket, and use THOSE bolts to go through the cast steel puller, and thread them into the balancer. The A/C Bolts are the perfect length, and the right thread size/pitch.

For pressing the balancer off the crank, use the 'flat' or 'top hat' shaped end on the center "pressing" bolt.

Place the flat end against the head of the harmonic balancer bolt.

Start turning the BIG bolt....

Eventually you will have to remove the balancer bolt as it will bottom out on the bolt before falling off the snout of the crank, but that iwll get you started, and you SHOULD be able to figure it out from there. If you can't figure it out, you PROBABLY shouldn't be swapping out your own timing chain.

ive done tryed heating it up nocking with a hammer the BOLT IS NOT BREAKING FREE EVEN WITH A HUGE COMPRESSER and inpact gun

One stubborn harmonic balancer bolt.
Do you have the proper harmonic balancer puller (if that's still applicable)?

What about trying a breaker bar?

tryed breaker bar the harmonic balancer keeps wanting to turn and i have the proper puller my dads buddy at work can let me use the tools in the semi garage

at the risk of sounding sarcastic (I'm not being really) left hand thread?

at the risk of sounding sarcastic (I'm not being really) left hand thread?

Wouldn't doubt that! Ford and other auto makers are known for doing that, especially so you just take it to the dealer

lol no problem wood1 your not being sarcastic some ppl dont know that for jeep and other models are indeed left handed thread but mine still will not budge

i got to say thanks for the help any other suggestens

Almost sounds like its worth drilling that S.O.B out and heli-coiling it. But I'd rather get it out in one piece, the correct way...

i am really thinking about that but i mean how would i get the balencer its self to stay still so i can try a breaker bar again while i heat it up
