My 2022MY Explorer Platinum just got Scheduled for Production!

Crimithy,
I was told auto start/stop delete wasn’t an option but I swear I saw it on here somewhere. Am I being bamboozled?
I just checked the Order Guide which is posted in this forum and it looks like all trims with the exception of the Hybrids, get the Auto Start/Stop technology.

Thank you. We went KR, so it would appear that’s still not an option. Too bad. The amount of fuel saved isn’t nearly enough to offset the costs it increases.

:dunno:

My dealer was able to modify my order in later September to delete the start/stop. I think you can only do it with the 2.3 ecoboost

I’m pretty sure they will have auto start stop feature with a button to turn off and on in the center stack under the screen. I might be mistaken tho, I might need to read the order guide again.

That’s definitely there, but I had read that there was the option to get rid of it completely so you didn’t have to use the button. Turns out it’s only on the 2.3L models/trims.

The 2022 Order Guide shows Start/Stop Technology as standard on all but the Hybrids.

Unless they just updated, the 3.0L - King Ranch , ST and Platinum do not have the start/stop removal option

This "Feature" exists to help the manufacturer meet mandated fuel economy requirements. I don't know if it actually saves fuel in the real world, but it must do so as part of the fuel economy test suite. There are ancillary costs for this feature. Starters must be able to deal with all the additional start cycles, and it requires AGM batteries.

Crimithy,

Got our build date.

An early Christmas present.

You have two options to turn off the auto stop/start, 1- get a tune from a reputable tuning shop and they can turn it off in the tune, and 2- get an auto stop eliminator.

I was at a Ford Ride & Drive today got to test the new Maverick, the topic of microchips came up and one of the Managers mentioned that the Auto Stop Start Delete Option was done as a microchip saving tactic.

OMG! CONGRATS!!!! I’m so excited for you guys. You’re going to absolutely love your King Ranch Explorer! Please keep us updated and send me pictures when it arrives. Merry Christmas from FoMoCo!
And now they moved it up.

I just had 3 of my Customer’s Explorer Orders get moved up by 1 month. Their build week was for December now it’s for November like yours. It all happened yesterday we got the emails.
I heard they suspended production at the plant in Mexico making the bronco. Guessing they shifted chips elsewhere to keep more production going.
