What sort of "no start" is this: one where the starter doesn't do anything, or one where the starter is doing its part to crank the engine, but the engine won't run on its own?

brooklyn thank you. yes the fuel pump runs contuosly when the key is in the koeo position. it never shuts off like it should after a few seconds

mr. shorty, the truck cranks fine. i have no injector pulse but plenty of spark. it will start if i spray carb cleaner in it. i also have 47 psi fuel pressure

no check engine light. i tried two reman computers and still no light. the reason i chaged the ecm is because i couldn't scan the original. i couldn't scan the remans either

all fuses are good and there the fuse links are good and the relays are functioning. history: it started with an intermintent miss and progressivly got worse until this situation

Your injectors & spark plugs won't fire without a signal from the PCM. Check the PCM's bulkhead connector with a test light to see if there is power, and check the ground connections to see if there is a ground.

Brooklyn, I have several friends with Aerostars. Are the bumper covers available where you are?

thanks brooklyn ill check those. someone told me it is the cam position sensor. could that be correct? thanks again. i will tell them

all grounds are good and no corrosion on the connecters

in my case, when i turn the key to the ON position the pump does come on but it never shuts off.

Just to emphasize what brooklynbay is saying. The fact that the pump runs continuously and the CEL doesn't ever come on KOEO suggests to me that something is wrong with the PCM's main power and/or ground circuits. Do you have a wiring diagram? Even the ones in Chiltons should help you see how this is wired in. I know it can be tedious, but you've got to probe the PCM power circuit to see if it is working right.

hey guys i appreciate all your input and you may be right but all the shops around here are saying its the cam sensor. the draw back is that if i pull it, send it off, yhey will rebuild it. is this part available where you're at?

I was almost certain places like autozone, napa, carquest carried replacement CMP's. I also thought it was a little expensive for a "guess."

Are the shops suggesting this part after looking the vehicle over, or is this simply a guess over the phone? I would normally defer my opinion to the opinion of someone who has actually ran some diagnostics. But if they haven't touched the truck themselves, then they are just guessing.

One thought: A bad CMP normally would not prevent you from pulling codes. In fact, it would trigger a code (CM 214 isn't it??). You've indicated that you were unable to pull any codes from it or even get the CEL to come on. Until someone tells me they've put a voltmeter on that red wire going into the PCM and read 12V, I'm going to stick with that as the first thing I'd do.
