I have a 99 4door explorer 4wheel drive that I really don't want to put the money into making it roadworthy as it is. I found a website that utilizes Ford Ranger frames to make replica 1936 Ford pickups. (classic36pickup.com) Is the frame from my 99 Explorer the same (minus bodymounts) as a ranger, or am I barking up the wrong tree?
I've got plenty of time, not a lot of money. It's either build me a toy or buy me a corvette of newer vintage. The wife doesn't like the 'vette idea.

Unfortunately, your Explorer's frame is wider than a Ranger frame. What needs to be done to the Explorer to make it roadworthy?

Since you've got plenty of time, I'm sure you can make it work ;).

X6StrigerX, the ole girl needs LOTS of things, a cv joint, a brake line or two, ball joints, e brake cables, I really wish I could give you the whole list. It would cost about 2k to have my mechanic fix. This is why I asked about the frames. I drive truck 5 to 6 days a week, and have a few hours to fool with on Saturday. I love old trucks, and well you know..... Maybe I can trade with a junkyard. I am not giving up on a dream, by any means. I am not "mechanical" but I do know my way around.
