My fiance and myself just recently bought an automatic 94 ford explorer xlt. needless to say we got a little bit ripped.. the guy we bought it from told us everything was pretty okay except the blower didnt work for the heat/ ac. and that the brakes were going to need replaced soon. Well once we got a decent way home the transmission started to act up. it doesnt want to shift into or out of 2nd gear. i mean it does, but you gotta get your rpms up and let off gas, then stomp on it and it goes. So we got a transmission filter kit, some transmission fluid and some lucas oil to try to fix it.. well, after we got the trans. drain pan off, and emptied the fluid out of it, we found these two huge metal pieces in it? So, we're a little stumped. obviously we're going to be replacing the transmission, but we were just wandering if anybody can help us out and let us know what these two pieces are?

Well, the pieces dont look at all like an intermediate band so?

i hate to tell you, but it is the intermediate band. My father and i got two explorers with bad transmissions to fix and sell. Both of them had the same exact pieces in the trans pan. Its not the band itself, more so the piece of the band that holds it to the case or is pushed on by the servo to hold the drum in the transmission. I am sorry, but you got ripped bad. Id take it back and see what you can do, i dont know where or who you got it from, and see what they can do.

we bought it from some guy like 30 miles away. he was a private seller and he made us sign a paper stating we new it needed a tune up, and that it needed brakes soon. he wouldnt let us test drive it out of a parking lot because its registration was outdated, so we never knew until we were on our way home, and then we couldnt get ahold of him. Go figure. thanks for all of your help, we really appreciate it. we found a place where we can get a transmission for about 275, and that will be guarenteed for thirty days so hopefully we can get it running better. Also, the gas guage doesnt work

oh red flag. Next time you need to watch out for your self and not be so trusting. Might be time to make another 30 mile trip and do some talking...

okay

okay so we found a guy with a 1995 ford explorer same thing that will let us have his trans for $100. He's a good friend of ours. Will the tranny from the 95 fit my 94?
