My Navajo Lost All forward Gears without Notice

Well that makes me feel a little better , Once I get the Linkage changed , Then I can Install it and put new filter, fluid, and 2nd Trans cooler !

Well I Finally Got the Linkage Changed , Put the new Filter and Gasket on the Pan and Put it back together , Will be Installing It Sometime Tomorrow or whenever I can !

Well It is installed , I have the Trans in , I had to use Adapters for the Stock fluid lines to work on the BII trans , I now need to figure out the wiring for the solenoid , I do have the 3 wires , The BII plug is different , But I should Be able to Wire in some Connectors to the Plug on the trans , But need to figure out which go where ! , Pics Shortly

Just keep in mind that you may end up needing to return the wiring to stock form at some point, so be sure to leave enough wire to splice the connector back on and save the connector. You will need one of the positive wires and the ground. You may need to add a resistor to the wire for the OD soleniod to get the TCC to function, I'm not sure if the 1st gen was smart enough to monitor weather or not the OD solenoid is functioning

Thanks for the Heads up and all the info , Next time I go to the Pull a Part I Think I'm going to stock up on All the Stock trans stuff !

perhaps send a PM to Maniak, he went through all of the resistor stuff when he did his 700R4 conversion.

Well here are some Pics ,
The Adapters I had to use for the Cooling lines Since the BII lines are Smaller , and the Threads are a Different size and pitch

Pm sent to Maniak , Now I just need to figure out Which Wire go to what prong on the connector !

Well I Went ahead and put most of everything back together , Put in about 7 Qts of fluid between Checking and filling , Need to put more fluid in the Transfer case , And Check all bolts and connections , But Still stumped on the Tcc wiring , It Went into R-D just fine after the fluid was moving , but did not move it more than a Foot each way , Just need to figure out this Tcc wiring and I should be good !

Didn't I give you the wiring colour codes?

You saying it refuses to move further than a foot?

Yes Wood1 you gave me the color codes to my Factory wiring , But I need to figure out what I connect to the Trans , I did not move it more than a Foot each way As I have no Interior in it .

Gotya. Hope it works right.

There were 2 wires going to the BII trans?

The 3 wires going to your trans in the Explorer had a common wire that went to both solenoids, it should be red and is a constant +12V. The P/Y goes to the converter solenoid - terminal.

Thanks , Yes there are 2 Terminals on the connector for the BII Trans , There Should Be 2 Wires Going to the BII Trans , The P/Y Tcc Wire , And a Power wire I'm Guessing ??, I have not been able to find what wires go to the BII trans .

Do you have the BII kicking around? I can remember what you said. The wire colours are likely not the same. If you have the harness from the BII you could plug it in and just connect it up. If you have the BII you could probe the harness going to the trans and turn on the ignition, should see +12 at one wire. Hook that one to the red wire in your Ex's harness, the other one has to be the ground.

I had to Drive 60 miles to get the trans so No on the wiring , I can probably go to a Pull a part and Cut the connector off , but that doesn't tell me what wires go to it you know .

The TCC is switched on the ground side, there is 1 constant power and 2 switched grounds on the explorer. The P/Y is the switched wire for the TCC solenoid. the Red wire is the constant power to both solenoids on the explorer. The 2 wires referenced need to be wired in to the tcc connector on your current trans, and the third wire needs to be capped off. Most solenoids are not polarity sensitive, but if this one is you can just reverse the wires if it doesnt work the 1st time.

So I need to Hook the P/Y and a Ground , Or the P/Y and the Red to the Connector on the Trans ?.

you need to hook up the P/Y and red, the P/Y is the switched ground to activate the solenoid

Sweet Thanks Rickybobby ! , Will Hook those wires up tomorrow Before I do anything else and see how it goes after I put my Interior back together and make sure my fluid level is right !

Well I finished it up and Topped off The Fluid level and Connected the Wires , But I have No Overdrive , So I'm guessing I need to Swap the Wires around for Overdrive to work , But Good news Is I Drove it around town !!!
