'00 V8 XLT
Ok, so I bought this a little over a week ago, '00 V8 XLT, 93K, leather/sunroof/nothng else special. I have a few questions and observations, and you late-model Gen2 owners could help me, since i came from a '95...

- Prev owner said the liftgate leaked. Yep, the hinges were loose (!) and the glass not well centered. Fixed. Do the hinges come loose a lot? they are 10MM sockets, btw. and a 4MM hex key give you enough torque to tighten the Torx on the glass.

- Leaking coolant, owner changed the water pump and left the outlet hose clamp off, no wonder. Should I be expecting to change the water pump occasionally?

- Left front speaker buzzes, cone is warped from moisture, heat, or a defect. Any recommendations for replacements, do ALL 5x7s fit, and what can I get that is a modest improvement for less than $40/pr? I'm not asking for much, it's a Premium radio, and I would swap the radio if it was cheap enough and a slightly newer Ford radio had MP3 capabilities...

- Speaking of radios, has anyone posted an aux jack mod for the 98+ Premium radio? I tried to find one, nothing came up but I'm still looking. If this radio took a CD changer, there is a way to get line-level input into it, just not as easy as a Mach.

- When turning in reverse, if I turn tight, the car is unmistakeably binding, it will come to a halt as if I have the brakes on, but I can still move it with a little throttle. Is this a problem with the AWD, or should I suspect something else?

- And I think it is impractical to try to disable AWD, so I can't do a BWM without major changes to the front drive, right?

- Driver's power seat twists and binds moving front to back either direction. I haven't gotten it out yet, are there known problems with tracks beyond the rare (?) broken rails or frames? Can't see anything stuck in the rails, and ti does move full distance if you help the seat along...

- At 93k, is it pointless to do a tranny flush? My '95 at 213k got one, and it pretty much clogged the EPS and cost me a rebuild. Fluid looks and smells normal, prev owner claims he dropped the pan and changed filter 'regularly'. He is a car guy, but he missed the hose clamp, so who knows. I know I could do that :)

So far, so good though, I paid $3200 for it in Phoenix, and it does have some burnt paint, but paint doesn't bother me much.

Thanks!
