Looks super clean. I'd take off the 80s style running boards and throw it on 33s and it'll look better than ever.

31 AT's fit those stock rims and BII like a glove.
You can do a 2" lift with the F-150 coil seats and blocks in the back

Nothing wrong with the B2. My 88 was my first car. Loved it & got my use out of it....

Wouldn't 31's be a little much for my 3.45 gears?

Yes

30x9.5 would be more manageable, I ran around with 30's and 3.55's for a long time
Your truck is a 5 speed, you can get away with those gears and 30's

Tell your Dad that you'll get around $14 for the aluminum running boards at a scrap yard. That's what i got for mine. Maybe he'll go for it. They really do nothing good for your clean little BII. Good luck with it
