finally joined so i figured i might as well contribute
please keep in mind this was my first box build/ install. i worked very hard on the box and it took alot of time and love.
-dual 6.5" in dash dvd (soon to be replaced by old school eclipse 8454.. 8v preamp FTW)
-0 guage wiring (with 200amp circuit breaker)
-(2) SPLWX15 15" woofers (DVC wired down to 2ohm)
-8 cubic ft box, dual chambers, (4) 4" aeroports @ 35hz
-SPL GRLA5500.1 amp
-MTX crossover
-Infinty kappa 5" in the doors and some random orion 6x8"s in the back..
-(coming soon 200amp alt & possibly red top? well see)
i got compliments left and right on the box.. it took about 15 hours to complete with my moms boyfriend who is a professional cabinet maker. its made out of 2 layers 3/4" MDF so 1 1/2" total all the way around.. i used body filler to seal off all the screw holes and seams.. then went around every edge with a 3/4" round-over and around all the ports and baffle with a 1/4".. i used about 10 cans of 99 cent black paint from walmart and about 4 cans of clear
before:
umm.. super sexy if you ask me
(cig box for scale)
my deck.. its flashy and looks cool but anybody thats had one will tell you its kind of novelty.. id much rather have buttons and a knob to be honest..
before the top face went on:
all screw holes/seams/ joints sealed with bondo.. ready for paint
moments after install:
