My 99 sport with 91k on it runs great no sohc death rattle no wierd noises and just made the switch to synthetic oil this past week:thumbsup: Im Proud to own the most popular suv on the road and that its MADE IN THE USA (for all intensive purposes:D)

yep!!

come on guys, out of 98,000 members we have to have more than this ,,

131k and my truck is doing well i wont say run great then ill jinx myself haha

All three of my vehicles run great

97 Eddie...smashed up front end

97 XLT...Death rattle

74 Nova...On its way to be an alcohol drag car

My explorer is in great shape. I change the oil every 3,000 miles and do all the work on the truck myself. Owned it for a year and a half now with very little problems. Truck has 65k on it.

Fricken awesome! Love Snowball... Best money I EVER spent. And I used to buy a lot of cool stuff in college... ;D

This is hilarious! I too saw the comment about "no great running explorers thread"

But since its here, my trucks running great! 119,x.. and I plan on seeing 250,000 before I even think about trading in!

also saw the other post.... soooooooo.... My truck runs awesome (with a couple of codes i haven´t fixed, but still, loving how it runs: gggrrrrrrreeat hahahaha)

My 98 Explorer XLT runs great. So does my 02 Mustang GT Vert.

Can the OP define what is "great"?

To some, great is: "it got me where I needed to go today". To others it could be fuel economy, low cost of ownership or a 600HP beast's ability to defeat all challengers at any cost.

I would just like to know what the benchmark is.

2005 EB- No problems. 74500km.
2003 XLT- No problems. 98800km.
1998 Sport- No major problems. (routine expected stuff) 162000km.

'99 ran flawless till it meet it's untimely demise:(
'91 160k and still ticking:thumbsup:

Shhh! You will jinx it!

I told my bud my truck was in tip-top shape last week, not even a day later, well, I had to go buy new tie rods.

I looked for wood, but there was none to knock on.

So far, so good...

'95 XLT 4x4, 281k, bone stock, new rack at 180k+/-, tranny ohaul at 235k (original trans, yes it was, yes), 17-21MPG depending entirely on my mood. It hasnt been perfect, but hey, I cannot complain. I bought it used with 167k on it, and so far, so good. It was Maine car until 2005, so the paint is above average for an AZ car...

Needs:

- thermostat or radiator or hose(s) temp gauge fluctuates
- rack, it creaks like an old rusty gate
- brakes, changing pads/rotors this weekend
- console recover, eBay baby!
- air blend door creaks like the rack going cold to hot
- radio on/off doesn't stay off
- sunroof rattles like the rear hatch
- headlights are seriously sandblasted
- lh brake light lens, my wife crushed my table saw with it
- alternator squeals terrible at certain temperatures, for last 100k
- drivers door lock actuator weak
- driver's 6-way seat got it's first crack in the leather last week oh my
- standard Arizona crack and pits in windshield
- loose wiper arms, massive play
- dare not let a mechanic touch the front end, or i will be facing ball joints/tie rod ends/bushings/you name it
- shocks are probably original, don't ask

Other than that, I would drive it cross-country again. My wife says it will not die.

Now, all I want really is a commuter car. '90 CRX Si maybe...:)
