I got bored and I need to change something on my Explorer. So I got a roll of wire mesh to go over rain gutter's and a tube of Liquid Nails. About 6 dollars for both. I should be done tomorrow afternoon and I'll post finished pics then.

Nice. I love those cheap modifications. Not a lot of dough but a lot of hard work. Rock on!

The funniest signature on this site yet!

It looks good. I was thinking of doing something like that but painting the wire mesh red to match my paint. I'll have to try it now that I know it should look good.

Thanks for the compliments. I was beginning to think no one cared. I imsgine painting it would work fine. But when putting it on you'd have to be careful not to chip the paint so you don't see any silver.

is there a provision left so you can open the hood?

Thanks for the compliments. I was beginning to think no one cared.

lol, how rude of me, I did have a look yesterday, and it looks alright by me.

And yeah, I never thought about the hood opening. What about it?

upon closer inspection of the above posted pic, there is a small cutout to allow a finger or two into the grill to release a hood latch....

I did make an opening. It is pretty wee (small) but it is enough to stick about two fingers in to open it.

Where did you get the material you used? Mine is the same thing, but the holes are very small, not bigger like yours are. What I'm trying to say is, the mesh is too small, not bigger like yours.

I got it at a store called 84 Lumber. I'm not sure how nationally known they are, but it is pretty much a Home Depot that's a little smaller and with a differant name. The mesh is pretty small. I would say about 3/16"s wide. Did you get mesh for a screen door? If so, that would definitely look differant.

I used gutter guard for mine... but from a distance it looks like a crappy dirty screen. I want bigger spaces in between so it will look better....

What he used is technically known as "rat wire." Most home improvement stores should have it, but you may have to buy a whole bunch at once. But, as he bought it, it is a "gutter guard". Same thing, different name and for a different purpose. Go to your local home improvement store, they should have something just like it.
