Might be an inbetween year, they switched the tensioner setup around between 1991 and 1994. Looking at NAPA, the belts are the same for 1991 and 1994. Maybe you got the wrong belt?

With AC: 25060870 or 6k870
Without AC: 25060806 or 6k806

nope, its the same belt that came off.

Same belt, same engine? Heh, something's not right! I'd start with the routing.

There's gotta be something missing. Either routing or maybe a pulley isn't in the right spot or... something? Can you post up some pictures to give us an idea what you're dealing with?

i think i put the pulley tensioner on upside down. gonna flip it and report back.

that was the first boneheaded mistake i've made so far. thanks for the help fellas. what it looks like so far.

I was going to suggest the tensioner too, I almost did it but fortunately we have two GEN1's and only one was apart.
Love that paint job! Next summer I plan to pull and rebuild a Gen1 engine just so I can have one with NO gasket leaks - and painted!

haha, used a different block, but never noticed that.

100 buxs o_O

There is supposed to be a year specific 90 degree oil filter adapter there. It is probably still in your old engine.

Easily seen on Manaik's lego engine
