Just had a reman trans put in, and now i have a roaring vibration at 65MPH. I just put in new U-Joints and really it has not changed it at all. The trans shop is 3 hours drive each way so I dont want to take it back there just yet.

Maybe they put the drive shaft in backwards, does the grooves on the outside of the shaft go towards the front or the back?

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Note - I didn't have this vibration before I had the trans changed out, so it really seems to be something with the re-installation of the drive shaft. I did pull the front one out and drove it again with no change.

Could someone post a picture of their driveshaft installed? It is possible that mine is in backwards end for end.

Anything?

Anyone?

I don't have the truck with me so i can't be of much help. . .
Another thing that might affect it is the rotational factor. Try flipping it 180 degrees if its on right.

Update -

I am getting this figured out. I did a ton of digging on google for images of the driveshaft and I am confident that mine is in correctly as far as front to back is concerned. I am now adjusting the clocking and have reduced my vibration 50%. A couple more attempts and I think i will have it figured out.

Thanks!

when you changed U-Joints, were you VERY careful to reassemble exactly as it came apart? almost all driveshafts are balanced with the tail-shaft yoke installed, so if it's not put back the same way, you'll get vibrations....

EB2005, did you find a fix to the driveshaft problem?
I finally had to replace my transmission after 90K and I immediately had the vibrating driveshaft around 60mph+ happen as well.
I'd rather fix it than replace it.
