What denotes a NBX Explorer? Is there any VIN indication? There are two in my area that are listed on CL but the tailgate says XLT on both. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Also, what years were they available?

I think there was a tailgate badge starting in 2004 but nothing different on the vin, it was just a trim level thing...

Thanks! I still dont know enough about the EX's to be able to confidently say I want an NBX over a Limited. Any help here? Pros? Cons?

NBX = off road adventure, rubber floor mats, etc...

Limited = Most luxurious of the Ex's. Auto and power everything.

The NBX was cool and all, but I'd take a Limited and ride in style. :)

Joe, what's the switch on the console between the cup holders? Any idea?

NBX was a marketing package that Ford used to sell the of roading experience. NBX stood for No Boundaries Experience. If I recalled correctly the seats were suppose to be water or dirt repellent/resistance and the flooring was similar. It was a trim level for the outdoors. Many also came with the roof basket (rebadged Yakaima).

Mechanically speaking, were they any different? FOr that matter, are there any gen 3 Ex's with anything different as far as drivetrain?

Nope, it was only an appearance package. The only things you were going to have drivetrain differences with are gears, and engine/trans combinations on the V6 and the V8.
