Need Help, 97 Explorer Camshaft

Hi,
the camshaft of my 97 XLT is broken. Ordered parts from USA. Can't get the special tools like crankshaft holding tool/camshaft sprocket holding tool/ camshaft positioning tool.
How can I get the timing for the firing right. Please help!! Truck is broken since 6 weeks now.

If you have the SOHC. Unless you have a machine shop and time to fabricate the tools don't try this with out them. OTC 6488 Ford Cam Timing $170 @ Cartools.com. The Haynes manual has a reasonable explanation of this. The cams are directly timed to the crank at #1TDC the tools hold hold everything in place while you torque the cam spkt to the cam. The position ot the spkt to the cam sets the timing.

How did you break a cam???
