- 2004 Sport Trac XLT 4WD
I posted this in another forum, but somebody suggested that I might have better luck here. I will copy and paste the contents of the other thread here. Thank you in advance for your help.
I am trying to help a friend with a ford explorer sport trac XLT that he just purchased. Toward the back of the fuel rail on the passengers side there are 2 vacuum lines that are not connected to anything, and I cannot find where they go. There is a gray connector near the fire wall that has 1 line going in and 2 lines coming out. It is the 2 lines coming out that are not connected to anything. Does anyone know where these go? The lines seem to have an exhaust type gas coming out of them. Plugging the lines has no impact on the motor as far as I can tell. I thought maybe an evap canister or something?

I forgot to mention it is a 2004 Sport Trac XLT 4.0 Automatic.

I will try and take a wider angle picture tomorrow in the daylight. But yes I am looking for whatever connects to the two pieces of hose. At the back of the passengers side fuel rail (But not attached to it) there is a gray piece that looks a valve of some kind maybe. It can be seen in the top two pictures. This valve has a single hose going into the back of it, and 2 hoses coming out the other side. It is these two hoses that are not connected to anything. I cannot see where the single hose that is attached goes, I can only feel it for a short distance between the motor and the firewall. Again I appreciate the help, I have tried to google a picture of the motor, but that area is not clear on any of the pictures.
