Need help with a part

today i was looking at my 98 5.0 XLT and noticed that the passenger side plastic wheel well was broken. I drove home and started to take it off. after i got it off i noticed there was a ball looking thing attached. i unscrewed it and need help finding out what exactly it is. its looks like a black softball sized plastic with two wires running to it. i want to make sure i didnt mess it up any when i took the wheel well off.

the wheel well is pretty cracked up. would some epoxy be enough to hold it or do i need a new one?
