Shackles are easier than an add-a-leaf. All you have to do is pull out the old ones and put in the new ones. Most likely, with an AAL, you'll end up needing to cut off the spring center pin and then you've got to pull the bottom leaf off to put on the new one. More time consuming but still not really that difficult.
You seriously need to read up on the SAS. If you're having to ask these questions, you aren't ready to do one. As I said before, an SAS is completely custom. You'd need to pull everything off your frame on the front (entire suspension, steering, etc) add a steering box, coil spring buckets/radius arm mounts/trac bar mount (or spring hangers if you went with leaf springs), build a custom steering, figure out all of your angles, etc etc etc. It's a huge task.
Do you really think 1,000 dollars is an alright deal for a 3" body lift??!?!!? A 3" body lift is only about 150 bucks! 1k installed is a friggin rip off. If you think that's a good deal, get the superlift or trailmaster lift, install that yourself/with someone's help, and you'd be much happier with that.
