Has anyone ever replaced them? I have a '99 XLT 4-door and I'm trying to replace them. I bought dorman cables from rockauto, part # C66003 and C66004. It looks like the cable for the right side is too short. Not the outer cable length, but the inner cable. The inner cable isn't long enough to reach the intermediate cable.
I can't find any other cable on rockauto, so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong or just have the wrong cable. any help would be appreciated.

Did you unload the tension on the cable buy tugging on it and using a drill bit in the foot mechanism? When I installed cables I had to pull hard to get the cable into the slot. I recall a locking pilers to keep tension on the intermediate cable so I could finish the job.

If I recall correctly the dorman cables are not coated. I suggest anti-sieze on all exposed portions of the cable.
