2007 Sport Trac
Hello,

I have a 2007 Sport Trac, 4.0 (175,000 miles w/ manual A/C cluster) and my heater core started leaking. Winter time is quickly approaching and I would like to fixed it before its too late. At this moment, the heater core is disconnected and bypassed. It is a pretty decent leak and drains coolant quickly. After multiple searches online for any helpful information, I always end up empty handed. Has anybody changed one of these before or can give me any helpful tips?

Questions:

1. Will I encounter and trouble from the air conditioning system? If so, will the system have to be depressurized?

2. Are there any special procedures I should follow when disconnecting the air bags?

Thanks to all,
Nolon

Does anybody know if it is possible to replace the heater core without disconnecting the evaporator core? Thanks

Can anybody help or add any information, please.

not only will you have to open the a/c system, you have to remove the dash also, which allows you to remove the heater core/evaporator housing.

I know the entire dash will need to be removed and the evaporator + heater core are in the same housing. My question is, does the air conditioning system absolutely need to be drained in order to replace the heater core, or is there any way possible that it can be replaced without draining it? Thanks

it must be opened up. the heater core sits at the bottom of its case. the evaporator tubes on the firewall side are very short and will not allow you to pull the box out far enough. sorry.
