I've been looking to change my tires, since they are worn out. I would like all-year round tires with a quiet ride. This is what I got so far:

-BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A
-Michelin Cross Terrain
-Michelin LTX M/S
-Cooper Discoverer AST II
-Cooper Discoverer H/T

Any other suggestions also appreciated.

Those Michilins are WONDERFUL tires. Highly recommend. They will wear wonderfully if kepted inflated properly and will do great in all weather.

the reviews for the michelin were really good be it the Cross terrain ro LTX M/S

I had the michelins on my X before i got BFG AT's and i loved the michelins, i just wanted an AT, really a great tire quiet ride, even wear, no problems at all.

I have the Michelin Cross Terrains on my 02 Sport, they have almost 68,000 miles on them and they still have reasonable tread left. If maintained properly these are excellent tires.

I've had the Michelins, both the LTX M/S and the LTX ATX (which i have now) the ATX does very well on the highway, pretty quiet, and sheds mud alright for a semi agressive street tire. The M/S does GREAT in the wet and slushy snow, is very quiet. Both tires have worn perfectly with rotations at around 8000 miles. I now have 52000 miles on my ATX's and i'm going with ProComps next month. But i love Michelin, if you can afford them

I'm an Idiot, that's what i get for posting while at work. The tires on the 99 are XCX APT's from Michelin, it's a very similar tread pattern to the LTX AT they offer.

currently im running the BF Goodrich Long Trail T/A's on my 96 and i like them alot for the street. they do ok offroad too, just not in mud and snow of course. gonna be switching to some 31's or 32's here soon, but id recommend the bfg's.

I've had the ltx, great tire quiet and very good tread wear. Mine were pretty abused so there was still tread left when I got rid of them but the sidewalls were gone and they were dryrotting. On a side note when I bought them they were $80 a tire, now at the same store they are $125 a tire.

Im interested in this thread also. I'll be in the market for tires in the next few months. Ill be doing almost all road driving with very light off road use, if any at all. What size tire do you guys recommend for stock 16" wheels? Also, any suggestions on where to get the good deals for tires? I've gotten GREAT deals in the past from Edgeracing.com for my car, but I dont think they have a whole lot of truck tires.

Wow  I guess the vast majority recommends the Michelins. If they are that good, then they are probably worth the money. I'll keep the factory 15" wheels for now, and just change the tires, I think they look good.

Thanks for all your great suggestions, better than asking a tire salesperson :D

By getting and BFG all terrain, am I wasting money? I want something good on road, in the snow, and I go off road very little. I heard their great but...

So their pretty much good in all conditions, I've already read of folks that say their outstanding in snow.

Excellent tires, I had them on my 2wd dakota before and they kept me on the road and going through snow many times in the michigan weather. I have them on my explorer now and am only pondering the idea of selling them since now I live in the city and lowered my truck 2" probably going to go with 18s and an all-season. I would definately recommend them for what you are looking for.

On the BFG note, anyone had any trouble with 31x10.50 on 1st gen 2wd sport rubbing anywhere? Have a 255 70 15 on there now, so no trouble with the width, but wanting the taller AT. Last set I had on a Jeep, best tires ever.

I had the Michelin Cross Terrains and liked them alot. Then I tried Bridgestone Dueler Revos and these are much better in every way. No real complaints about either except treadwear, and that's just because of my driving.

LTX's are what you want

-Michelin LTX M/S

For what you are looking for these are going to be the best tires for you. The only down fall is the P rated tires have noticable amounts of side wall bulge, atleast with the 255's. Other then the side wall bulge these tires are amazing! At the present I have just over 104,000+ miles and there is pleanty of tred to drive thru mud and snow for work in the Maine. They are one of the most expensive tires on the market but the damb things last forever
