so ive been looking at getting some bullit or cobra rims for the ex, so far the only ones i see for the bullets are 17x8" there was a set of polished 18x9's or something but they got sold before i could go look at them...there are a set of cobra's that are 17x10.5" in the rear and 17x9" in the front will these fit my truck? also wondering exactly how wide 17-18" rims can go on a stock ex, i will lower it about 2" front, and 1 3/8" rear eventually mby before i get rims, but will the EE rear sway bar affect rear tire width? i like the look of beefy wide muscle car tires :D i do not want the rims/tires to stick out of the fender at all, if anyone has the correct size and backspacing that im seeking let me know! 18" wide rims, with possibly wider tires, i love the cooper cobra tires with the white walls out i had a set on my 91 chevy 2500 and it made a world of difference! smaller diameter than stock but really wide and fit inside the fender...

:edit: but i wheel spacers are deffinately possible if needed, im not afraid!..mby 1" spacers with a wider rim would help me out some...

Uh 18'' wide rims would definitely stick out of the fender well....are you thinking 18" TALL??

I'd stop by a good tire and wheel shop and have someone look it it for you. Ask to speak to the manager and have him look at the ex. Thats the best I can tell ya.

Take pics when you get this done, I'd like to see an explorer rollin on 18's!!

if you want a badass set of wheels and tires i have a friend on my local Mustang website that has a set hes selling, i think they are staggered, 17x9 and 17x10..

holy crap 18 inches wide :| no tall of course that would be insane! will 18 inch tall with like 9.5 inch wide rims fit decent on the front? and go 10-10.5 in the rear, does that sound doable with a lowered 2-2.5" front and 1 3/8 rear with an explorer express swaybar...

itl be fine as long as the backspacing is right..

you do know that the tires will probably cost more than the wheels right?:thumbdwn:

really for 18 inch tires? im thinking im gonna get 17 inch bullits because ive been street parking alot lately and my stock 16's are about 1-1.5" away from rubbing :thumbdwn:...anywho anyone interested in some 16" 02 sport teardrops with nexen sp?, tires, they have like 80% tread left and do great in the rain! mby ill post an ad see if anyones interested might motivate me to go buy rims...

as long as the overall height doesnt change much youll be fine..

a 235/70/16 is about the same as a 275/40/18 as far as overall height goes, if not a bit shorter..

google plus 1 sizing..

I have 17x9 wheels with 275 60 17 tires-
I have my torsion bars flipped with about 1/4" of bolt cranked in for a fulll safe drop of about 2.75"
The rear is just 2" ( or whatever) EE blocks. This gives a slight rake to the stance.

I would go no wider anywhere-there are slight rub marks in the inner rear fender-
and
I have a rub at full lock on the front sway bar-
shortening the swaybar end links will help a bit-but only slightly.

I had to re locate the rear brake cable to inside the rear control arm-
I also needed to grind a bit of clearance on the front upper control arm -upper ball joint area. There is about 1/16" clearance now between the tire side wall and upper ball joint after the grinding.

You can see if you click my truck in my signature.

very nice truck you have there , so your wheels are 9 inches wide and you ran into some issues? could i get a different backspacing so it sticks outside mby an inch or so, spacers i am ok with if i can get another inch of width, how wide are my stock teardrop 16's? im thinking some 17 or 18inch bullits...gotta lower before wheels tho!

so i ended up getting 18x9 cobra rims, the offset is +24mm what size spacer should i get to make these work? or is a spacer needed? they are replica's and the only ones ive seen like them, with the machined center and they are an odd style rim, i like them, just want to know if theyll fit before i get them painted black
