91 Eddie Bauer
Hi everybody,
I am new to this forum. Just said my old Wrangler Good Bye and now want to go with an explorer. I found a dealer with a nice looking black explorer, Edie Bauer Edition, year of make 12/90.
I am just wondering, if there is something wrong with this year of make, cause everybody here in this forum, has rigs from 91 and above. As far as I know, Ford started manufacturing the explorer in September 1990. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

First of all, welcome to the site. You'll find all sorts of interesting and useful information here. As for your question. The vehicle you are looking at is classified as a '91. All the Explorers with a manufacture date in 1990 are considered to be '91 model year vehicles.

Right. There's no such thing as a 1990 Ford Explorer.

My truck is a 94, but yet it was built at the factory (Louisville, Kentucky plant) in December 1993. Every model year had a lot of vehicles made in the previous year.

Welcome Aboard

Just my opinion but if i had to buy an explorer all over again there would be a few things i would look for such as, BALL JOINTS minor detail but they do cost about $1000.00cdn to have a mechanic change em, If it has running boards or a piece of trim by the bottom of the door look very close for RUST, Make sure the A/C works good, Crawl under it and look for leaks and dents on the gas tank skid plate and T-case skid plate, Take it for a test drive check for poping when its in 4x4, or just take it to a independant garage and tell em you want a quick inspection to see whats wrong with it...just MY opinion
