If been thinking about getting some nerf bars or sliders to replace my side steps, but I realized that b/c of my 2" body lift, things are not the same.

For sliders, which as far as I know are all custom, it shouldn't be a problem because I can just have them made 2" higher. But for nerf bars, would I be shooting myself in the foot? that is, adding something that is right now lower than my current steps? Also, would they look bad 2" below where they are suposed to be?

If anyone had any pics of nerf bars or sliders with a body lift it would be helpful. Thanks.

I had nerf bars on my old Explorer. When I did the body lift it made them look ghetto being down so low. I took them off immediately.

That's what I was thinking... so maybe it's going to have to be custom sliders.

if you have a body lift, the sliders will be perfectly straight. no bends or angles in the mounts. here is a shot of mine. i made them after i put the BL on. get sliders though.. they look better and are functional!!

Jason those are nice. They look like a CRL Customs job. Are they, or just similar?

not CRL, but similar. i made them with scraps. don't have a bender so they aren't rounded on the ends, they are tapered. that style is very common though (with the rounded ends) so i figured it worked well and used it as a base of my plans.

i built these

for my nissan pickup that is currently totaled sitting at home. I measured and an exact copy will fit perfectly around an explorer 4door. the rocker contour even matches up nicely and you can use them as nerf bars and tree deflectors.:D

Does anyone have any plans for some sliders. I think I'd like to make a set, but I'd have to get the measurements and such to my metal fab guy. If someones already done the leg work it would save me some trouble...

Also some more pics of peoples custom jobs would be great!

damn chad i like those sliders, i want some of those!

dude.. you expression looks like your getting ready to be intimate with those sliders!!! :D

thats a pretty classic design and works great!

your step bars wont be effected by the BL. After my 3" BL they went up with the rest of the body.
Look and see where they are connected.....

i had just woke up
and had to send a picture to a guy that wanted a set that day. I was tired and lugging a 75lb slider isnt easy.

Check the link in my signature...

Don't do nerf bars unless you can get them snug up to the rockers.

I can't stand the way mine look with the 3" BL. I had them welded and I'm cutting them off to put something custom on there while I'm doing the SAS.

Trust me they look sh!!tty with space between the bar and the body.

Here is a picture with 3"body lift with 33's. Yes the side steps are at stock height. I'm still thinking of raising them but the wife likes them where there at. She is 5'1".

I'll most likely raise them but they don't bother me that bad.

I don't have any rocks to slide on so they can't get damaged. I guess I'm just to lazy to take them & get them welded up.

I've decided to go with sliders, not nerf bars. Reason being, as long as I'm going to install some steps, they may as well protect the truck as well. Now I just have to make up some plans.
