Bought one for my 97 sport and the drain plug makes it so much easier to change the fluid. I bought a temp guage and installed it and now I don't have to worry an overheated transmission.

Thanks for the info. - I placed my order today!

I wonder how it would hold up to off road abuse ?

I have contacted them. The pan is sweet!

I am placing my order today. A4LD pan with fitting for temp gage, standard finish. Shipping to me is $6, UPS. Should have it next week......

Looks awesome, now I can hold 11 quarts of ATF in my system! hahaha...

Aspen: Better than the stockpan I can guarantee that! You cant get any worse!

I seriously doubt many people are going to hit their tranny pan off road, it is pretty well protected by the tranny X member, radius arms and x member, etc......

SWEET I just ordered mine...will be here before thanksgiving. Came to 200 total for the A4LD pan, with a standard fitting for the temp sender, standard as cast finish, taxes, and shipping...

I will take some pics and post my results next week....

For sale, stock A4LD tranny pan in perfect condition. $5

hahahaha

Good points plus the pan is a thick aluminum with ribs. I have a similar B&M pan on my Chevy Truck and it is ground clearance challanged :D . The trans pan has more than a few hits and scrapes on it, with no problems.

$200!!!!!!!

How did a $165 pan plus $6 shipping turn into $200. Did Arnold raise taxes allready?

HAHAHA no the missing $$$ is the machine work for the temp sender fitting

NICE find...but I'm a little confused about the temp sender boss...is it a hole pre-drilled, or is it a place that is re-enforced for drilling on the pan metal?

they cast it without the hole tapped, but the place is there for the boss...

Its $25 ex to get it machined, the advantage is they can machine it for the same size as your sended so you dont have to use adapters.

looks neat, but seems expensive.. There isn't much special, and I bet it'd be pretty easy to make yer own...

Dang - I assumed it was already threaded for the temperature sending unit. Mine's already on it's way. What would I need to do to get a sending unit hooked up?

It wasn't obvious to me

that it didn't come tapped. Find out what the NPT thread is for the sensor, drill a hole and tap it. Shouldn't cost more than $25 and you won't get a softer metal than cast aluminum. Hope it is a small sender. Then you can always use a thread adaptor to get it up to the next size when you screw up the first hole.

Do they use a pipe thread on the drain hole? You could use the temp sender as the plug and remove it when you drain the fluid.

drill and tap

You can get the tap at just about any hardware store for 10 bucks or so and it will tell you the correct drill size to use. Drill it and then run the tap through - it may cost around 20 bucks all said and done. Its easy if you take your time and go slow. Turn the tap a 1/4 to 1/2 turn, then back to clear the chips, another 1/4 to 1/2 turn more then back etc. Big thing is to get it started square to the hole, after that its cake. A little wd40 will keep the chips off the tap. To turn the tap a Tee handle is nice, but an adjustable wrench works just fine.

The electrical sender I have is a 1/8" NPT, but check your sender, or take it to the hardware store and use their thread checker.

Will the 5R55E take any tranny pan made for the A4LD? I've seen some other A4LD pans around.

Sorry, my bad. I saw AOD pans, not A4LD pans. Question answered. I'll have to order one soon.

Thanks for the help. Fortunately I didn't buy the temp. unit yet so when I do I'll get the thread info. and do the tapping.

For the temp sensor wich one do you all plan on using, and what gauge.

When you get your systems set up I would like to see some pics of where you mounted your temp gauge also.
