I replaced my stock 01 Mountaineer wheels with some from an 02 4x4 ranger:

I tried to find similar pictures, to truly reflect the difference between the wheels.

Please let me know what you think. Good or bad let me hear it-

I like them! The first ones looked more like Ranger wheels than Explorer too. Weird.

Well in the last years of the gen II explorer/mountaineer, some shared the wheels. Mine were identical to ranger wheels with the exception of the center caps.

I like it a lot. Makes the whole truck look new. Take a picture to see how far the wheels stick in/out. I'd like to see

looks good- i like em

Im ready to see how they look with the lift- but I guess that will be another before and after thread.

Update: I have bought some mercury wheel centers to complete my somewhat factory wheel look. Ill post pictures when I get some good ones.

Looks good, are you gunna sell any of the original wheels?

thats nice..i like em a lot.

where did u get those? are they 16s or 17s like the 3rd gen explorer ones?

Looks 100% better. :) Some 3rd gens still came with 16's.

They are 16" wheels.

Wheels from a 3rd gen will not work, the offset is wrong. These wheels are hard to find in salvage yards, and very expensive on ebay. There is a guy on the forum selling a wheel and tire combo for $575.

So is the backspacing on the Ranger wheels a little different, so that they stick out of the wheel well further?

Those look great!

Nope, the Ranger wheels backspacing is exactly the same as the stock wheels. I wish they stuck out more, but they don't. I am now looking for some different wheels that do.
